STILL LIFE OF WINGS, 2025–2026

When a butterfly dies, the part that endures the longest is not its body, but its wings.

This photographic series observes the gradual transition of a butterfly as its body slowly dissolves back into the surrounding environment. Fallen wings become dust. Dust becomes part of the soil. The soil nourishes plants, which in turn sustain the next generation of butterflies.

These photographs invite us to consider death not as the end of existence, but as one phase within the continuous cycle of natural transformation.

A still life documentary photography project documenting the remains of butterfly wings over the course of one year, developed in collaboration with butterfly breeders at the Bangkok Butterfly Garden and Insectarium.
